The Pious Man and the Shopkeeper

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM TO MY DEAR ALL ISLAMIC BRO AND SIS

There lived a pious man all by himself, who spent most of his time in praying, fasting and praising Allah. Almost all his waking hours were utilised in meditation and devotions. He was very happy with his spiritual progress. No wicked thoughts came to his mind and no evil temptations entered his heart.
One night, he dreamt a rather disturbing dream. He saw that a shopkeeper in the town was far superior to him in spirituality and that he must go to him to learn the basics of true spiritual life.
In the morning, the pious man went in search of the shopkeeper. He found him busy with his customers, selling goods and collecting money with a cheerful face. He sat there in a corner of the shop and watched the shopkeeper carefully. No signs of any spiritual life at all, he said to himself. His dream could not be true. But then he saw the shopkeeper disappear to pray his Salah. When he returned, he was busy dealing with money matters again.
The shopkeeper noticed the pious man sitting in the corner and asked: "As Salamu Alaikum, would you like something, brother?"
"Wa Alaikum As Salam. Oh! No! No!" said the pious man. "I don't want to buy anything, but I want to ask you a question." He then related his dream.
"Well, that is very simple to explain," said the shopkeeper, "but you will have to do something for me before I answer your question."
"I will do anything for you," replied the pious man.
"All right! Take this saucer; there is some mercury in it. Go to the other end of the street and come back fast within half an hour. If the mercury falls out of the saucer, you will hear nothing from me. There you go now."
The pious man took the saucer and started running. The mercury nearly wobbled out of the saucer. He saved it just in time, and slowed down. Then he remembered he had to return within half an hour, so he started walking at a fast pace. At long last he returned puffing and panting. "Here is your mercury, safe and sound," he told the shopkeeper. "Now tell me the true interpretation of my dream."
The shopkeeper looked at the pious man's weary condition and asked him: "Well, friend, how many times did you remember Allah while you were going from this end of the street to the other?"
"Remember Allah!" exclaimed the pious man. "I did not remember Him at all. I was so worried about the mercury in the saucer."
"But I do remember Him all the time," said the shopkeeper. "When I am doing my business, I am also carrying mercury in a saucer. I am fair, honest and kind to my customers. I never forget Allah Ta'ala in my dealings with other men."
"Men whom neither trade nor sale (business) diverts from the remembrance of Allaah (with heart and tongue) nor from performing As‑Salaah (Iqaamat‑as‑Salaah) nor from giving the Zakaah. They fear a Day when hearts and eyes will be overturned (out of the horror of the torment of the Day of Resurrection). That Allaah may reward them according to the best of their deeds, and add even more for them out of His Grace. And Allaah provides without measure to whom He wills" [Al Quran, Surah an-Noor 24:37-38]JAZAK ALLAHU KHAIR

The Boy Who Used to Delay His Prayers

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM TO MY DEAR ALL ISLAMIC BHAI AND SIS

PLZ DONT LEAVE THE SALAH

He remembered his grandmother's warning about praying on time: "My son, you shouldn't leave prayer to this late time." His grandmother's age was 70 but whenever she heard the Adhan, she got up like an arrow and performed Salah/Namaz/prayer. He, however could never win over his ego to get up and pray. Whatever he did, his Salah was always the last to be offered and he prayed it quickly to get it in on time. Thinking of this, he got up and realized that there were only 15 minutes left before Salat-ul Isha. He quickly made Wudhu and performed Salat-ul Maghrib. While making Tasbih, he again remembered his grandmother and was embarrassed by how he had prayed. His grandmother prayed with such tranquility and peace. He began making Dua and went down to make Sajdah and stayed like that for a while. He had been at school all day and was tired, so tired. He awoke abruptly to the sound of noise and shouting. He was sweating profusely. He looked around. It was very crowded. Every direction he looked in was filled with people. Some stood frozen looking around, some were running left and right and some were on their knees with their heads in their hands just waiting. Pure fear and apprehension filled him as he realized where he was.

His heart was about to burst. It was the Day of Judgment. When he was alive, he had heard many things about the questioning on the Day of Judgment, but that seemed so long ago. Could this be something his mind made up? No, the wait and the fear were so great that he could not have imagined this. The interrogation was still going on. He began moving frantically from people to people to ask if his name had been called. No one could answer him. All of a sudden his name was called and the crowd split into two and made a passageway for him. Two people grabbed his arms and led him forward. He walked with unknowing eyes through the crowd. The angels brought him to the center and left him there. His head was bent down and his whole life was passing in front of his eyes like a movie. He opened his eyes but saw only another world. The people were all helping others. He saw his father running from one lecture to the other, spending his wealth in the way of Islam. His mother invited guests to their house and one table was being set while the other was being cleared. He pleaded his case; "I too was always on this path. I helped others. I spread the word of Allah. I performed my Salah. I fasted in the month of Ramadan. Whatever Allah ordered us to do, I did. Whatever he ordered us not to do, I did not." He began to cry and think about how much he loved Allah. He knew that whatever he had done in life would be less than what Allah deserved and his only protector was Allah. He was sweating like never before and was shaking all over. His eyes were fixed on the scale, waiting for the final decision. At last, the decision was made. The two angels with sheets of paper in their hands, turned to the crowd. His legs felt like they were going to collapse. He closed his eyes as they began to read the names of those people who were to enter Jahannam/Hell.His name was read first. He fell on his knees and yelled that this couldn't be, "How could I go to Jahannam? I served others all my life, I spread the word of Allah to others." His eyes had become blurry and he was shaking with sweat. The two angels took him by the arms. As his feet dragged, they went through the crowd and advanced toward the blazing flames of Jahannam. He was yelling and wondered if there was any person who was going to help him. He was yelling of all the good deeds he had done, how he had helped his father, his fasts, prayers, the Qur'an that he read, he was asking if none of them would help him. The Jahannam angels continued to drag him. They had gotten closer to the Hellfire. He looked back and these were his last pleas. Had not Rasulullah [saw] said, "How clean would a person be who bathes in a river five times a day, so too does the Salah performed five times cleanse someone of their sins?" He began yelling, "My prayers? My prayers? My prayers?"The two angels did not stop, and they came to the edge of the abyss of Jahannam. The flames of the fire were burning his face. He looked back one last time, but his eyes were dry of hope and he had nothing left in him. One of the angels pushed him in. He found himself in the air and falling towards the flames. He had just fallen five or six feet when a hand grabbed him by the arm and pulled him back. He lifted his head and saw an old man with a long white beard. He wiped some dust off himself and asked him, "Who are you?" The old man replied, "I am your prayers." "Why are you so late! I was almost in the Fire! You rescued me at the last minute before I fell in." The old man smiled and shook his head. "You always performed me at the last minute, and did you forget?" At that instant, he blinked and lifted his head from Sajdah. He was in a sweat. He listened to the voices coming from outside. He heard the adhan for Salat-ul Isha. He got up quickly and went to perform Wudhu. "Say Your Prayers Before Prayers For You Are Said."JAZAK ALLAHU KHIAR

The Power of Istighfar

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM TO MY DEAR  ALL ISLAMIC BRO AND SIS

This story about "Istighfar" is from the life of Imam Ahmed Bin Hanbal, who is considered as a renowned scholar of Islam and a famous theologian. Imam Ahmed is also considered to be the founder of the Hanbali school of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and is one of the most celebrated Sunni theologians, often referred to as the "Sheikh ul-Islam" or the "Imam of Ahl al-Sunnah."
During his old age, while Imam Ahmed was traveling he stopped by a town. After the prayers, he wanted to stay for the night in the masjid yard because he didn't know anyone in the town. Owing to his humility, he hadn't introduced himself to anyone thinking that if he did, he would be welcomed by many people.
Failing to recognize Ahmed bin Hanbal, the caretaker of the mosque refused to let him stay in the mosque. As Imam Ahmed was quite old, the caretaker had to drag him out of the mosque. On seeing this, a baker from a nearby place felt pity for this man (Imam Ahmed) and offered to be the host to him for the night. During his stay with the baker, Imam Ahmed observed that the baker would constantly recite Istighfar (seek forgiveness from Allah). Imam Ahmed asked the baker if the constant practice of saying Istighfar had any effect on him. The baker responded by telling Imam Ahmed that Allah had accepted all of his duas (supplications), except one. When he asked him what dua was it that hadn't been accepted, the baker replied that he had been asking Allah to provide him the privilege to meet the famous scholar Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal.
On this, Imam Ahmed bin Hanbal said that Allah had not only listened to his dua but had dragged him onto his (the baker's) doorsteps. [Summarized from Al Jumuah magazine, vol 19, issue 7]
This story is a reminder of the power of saying Istighfar (seeking forgiveness) frequently.

YOUM E ASHURA

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM to my all dear ISLAMIC brothers n sisters

Islamic Dates>>Youm-e-Ashura - Sunni

Perspective Introduction

Youm-e-Ashura, or the day of Ashura, isthe 10th Muharram. Its meaning is derivedfrom the word ‘asha nura’ which istranslated as ‘enlightened day’.It is a significant date in the Islamiccalendar due to many events which haveoccurred on this particular day, includingthe martyrdom of Sayyidina Imam Hussainin the battle of Karbala.
Events which Occurred on the 10thMuharram
In Hazrat Sayyidina Abdul Qadir Jilani’sfamous book, Ghunya li-Talibi Tariq al-Haqq, he writes of the following incidentswhich occurred on Ashura:- Allah accepted the repentance of ProphetAdam (A.S) after his exile from Paradise; - Allah saved Prophet Nuh (A.S) and hiscompanions in the ark; - Allah extinguished the fire in whichProphet Ibrahim (A.S) was thrown into byNimrod [Pharaoh]; - Allah spoke directly to Prophet Musa(A.S) and gave him the Commandments.- On this same 10th of Muharram, ProphetAyyub (A.S) was restored to health (fromleprosy); - Prophet Yusuf (A.S) was reunited with hisfather Prophet Yaqub (A.S); - Prophet Yunus (A.S) was released fromthe belly of the fish; - The sea was divided as the nation of Israelwas delivered from captivity, andPharoah’s army was destroyed.- Ashura is also the day when ProphetDawud (A.S) was forgiven; - the kingdom of Prophet Sulaiman (A.S)was restored; - Prophet Isa (A.S) was raised to Jannah,- And Sayyidina Imam Hussain , grandsonof the Holy Prophet , achieved the honourof Martyrdom at Karbala.
Voluntary [Nafl] Worship on Youm-e-Ashura
- Nafl Namaaz:
Sayyidina Rasulallah SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM said, "That personwho performs four Rakaats of Namaz onthe day of Ashura by reciting Surah Ikhlaas11 times after Surah Fatiha in everyRakaat, Almighty Allah will forgive fiftyyears of his sins, and he will blessed with aMimbar (pulpit) of Noor (Light)."[Nuzhat Al-Majalis Wa Muntakhab Al-Nafa'is - Vol.1, Pg. 181]
- Fasting:
Hazrat Qatadah reports that the HolyProphet said, "On the day of Ashura, Ihope that Almighty Allah will make thisday a means of Kafaara [expiation] for pastsins."[Mishkat Shareef, Pg. 179]
Abu Huraira reports that the Holy Prophetsaid that after Ramadan, the fasts ofMuharram have the greatest excellence.[Sahih Muslim]
In the year 10 A.H., the Holy Prophet waskept the fast of Ashura with the NobleCompanions, who enquired, "Surely, this isalso the day which is honoured by the Jewsand Christians." The Holy Prophet replied,"If I am alive next year, then I shall alsofast on the 9th of Muharram [as well as the10th]."[Mishkat Shareef, Pg. 179]
Thus, the Muslims worship is keptdistinguished and separate from the ways ofthe non-Muslims. It is for this reason thatwe should not only fast on the 10th, butalso on the 9th of Muharram-ul-Haraam.
- Other Virtuous Acts:One who stays awake on the night ofAshura [10th Muharram] gains the Sawaab[spiritual Reward] of the Angels.[Tafseer Ruhul Bayaan]
The following various deeds for Ashura arementioned in Ghunya li-Talibi Tariq al-Haqq, by Sayyidina Abdul Qadir Jilani :- Whoever fasts on this day is like one whofasts all his life. - Whoever clothes a naked person Allahwill release him from a painful punishment. - He who visits a sick person, Allah willgrant him a reward that will not bedecreased. - Whoever places his hand on an orphan’shead, or feeds a hungry person or giveswater to a thirsty man, Allah will feed hima feast from Paradise and will quench histhirst with Salsabil (a wine that does notintoxicate). - And whoever takes a bath on this day willenjoy excellent health and freedom fromsickness and indolence. - Whoever provides generously for hisfamily on this day, Allah will be generousto him throughout this year. - And whoever applies Kuhl to his eyes willnever suffer from eye-sore again.
Expressing Grief on Ashura
It is permissible to express sorrow and griefon Ashura in a silent or controlled manner, upon remembrance of the events of Karbalaand the sacrifice made by our belovedImam Hussain.
However, it is not permissible to expressgrief in the manner used by Shias, which isto beat themselves in such a disturbingmanner that blood flows from their bodieswhile they wail and cry loudly, also knownas ‘Matam’.Astagfirullah, this is a truly misguided actand tradition that has no place in Islam.
Verily, Sayyidina Rasulallah said, “He isnot from our group who slaps his cheeks, tears his clothes and cries in the manner ofthe people of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamicignorance)."[Sahih Bukhari]

WA AALIHI WABAARIK WA SALLIM.
"O Allah! Send blessings on Muhammad,
our chief the unlettered Apostle and his
Family Thy favours and thy Salutations".
Hadrat Shah Wali'ullah Dehlvi (alaihir
rahmah) said that his father commanded
him to recite the above Durood Shareef as
it was the best one.
Hadrat Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu), a
close companion of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam), has said that
if a person recites this Durood eighty times
on Friday (after evening prayers), then his
sins equivalent to 80 years will be forgiven.
This is a very important Durood Shareef
which brings forth immediate success and
satisfaction to the heart and the mind.
Hadrat Zarar bin Auzar (radi Allahu anhu),
another companion of the Holy Prophet
(sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) says that he
used to recite this Durood Shareef and fight
with the non-believers. In every battle, he
saw that success kissed his feet, and he
never lost any battle on any day.

sunnah of drinking the water

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM TO MY DEAR ALL ISLAMIC BRO AND SIS

Sunnah of drinking water.

Assalato wassalamo alaika Ya Rasool Alla
Wa ala alika wa ashabika Ya Habeeb Allah

INSHA ALLAH Azzawajal today’s study circle will be on the Sunnah way of drinking water. The Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) liked sweet cold water. The Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) never made a noise whilst drinking water and when He Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam would drink milk, shurbat (milk shake) etc. he would give other first then take himself.

My dear Islamic Brothers & Sisters! A common thing that can be seen nowadays is that people drink whilst drinking up. This should not be done as it is khilaf e Sunnat meaning against the Sunnat. Abu Hurairah (RadiAllaho Ta’ala Anho) narrates that “Once the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) saw a person drinking whilst standing up, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) asked him to vomit it back out”. The person asked why, “Why shall I vomit it out?” The Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) said, “Surely who drank with you is worse then cat, that is the devil”. (Madarijun Nabuwat) Meaning my respected brothers & sisters that when we drink whilst standing up the devil is drinking with us!! Abu Huraira (RadiAllaho Ta’ala Anho) narrates from the Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) that “Do not drink water standing up, if you do it by mistake and you remember then vomit it out”. (Muslim) My dear Islamic brothers & sisters! To drink water standing up is makrooh (disliked) but it is desirable to drink the water of ablution standing up and also the Holy water of Zam Zam as this is Sunnah. We should not drink water in one breath as Ibn Abbas (RadiAllaho Ta’ala Anho) narrates from the Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) that “Do not drink water in one breath like a camel. However, drink it in two or three breathes. Say Bismillah and when you move the glass praise ALLAH Azzawajal by saying Alhamdulilah”. (Tirmidhi) The way the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasalam) drank water was by holding the glass in his Blessed right hand. He would sit down and pray “Bismillah”. My dear Islamic Brothers & Sisters the method of drinking water is to take it in three small sips by sucking the water without making any noise and moving the glass away from the mouth each time and praising ALLAH Azzawajal each time by saying “Alhamdulilah”. So that is before taking the glass to the mouth recite Bismillah take a sip and then remove the glass from the mouth and recite Alhamdulilah. This should be done twice and in the third sip you should drink as much as required. What we tend to do whilst having a hot drink whether it be tea, coffee, hot chocolate is blow on it to cool the drink down. This should not be done as Ibn Abbas (RadiAllaho Ta’ala Anho) states do not breathe or blow in the water. (Or any drink no matter if cold or hot). (Tirmidhi) My dear Islamic Brothers & Sisters! Science also proves that when one blows in a hot drink, the bacterium increases in the drink. These bacteria you will drink and will increase in the stomach, as there is warmth and this will create more illness in the stomach. The supplication to be recited after drinking water is: “Alhamdulillah hilladhi saqana adhbann furotann birrahmatihi walam yaj’Alhu milhann ujajann bidhunoo binaa” (recite 3 times and get sisters to repeat it) Translation: “All praise is due to ALLAH PAK who has given us fresh sweet water through His mercy and did not make it salty and bitter due to our sins”. In conclusion the manner of drinking water is: •Pray “Bismillah” and drink with your right hand as the devil drinks and eats with the left hand. •To sit down and drink. •Drink by taking three separate sips not all at once. •Whilst drinking, suck the drink and do not make a noise. •Do not blow into any drink for cooling. •Say “Alhamdulilah” after drinking. •It is not permissible to throw away any left over drink. Always cover the water that is left in a glass, jug or pot

sunnah of marriage

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM TO MY ALL DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS

How to perform the nikah according to the Sunna of PROPHET MUHAMMAD SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H)

In the name of ALLAH, Most Gracious Most Merciful.

The actual marriage ceremony is quite simple. A day is chosen (preferably as soon as possible after the engagement) and announced. The PROPHET MUHAMMAD SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) encouraged that marriages should be announced well, so that the community learns of this communion and do not look at the couple with suspicion when seen together. Therefore, a marriage should not be contracted in secret.

Thereafter, the following should be observed for the actual ceremony:

 1. The best time is a Friday after the 'Asr prayer in themasjid. The Messenger of ALLAH PAK SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) said, "Announce this marriage, and perform it in the masjid… (Tirmidhi).

 2. Scholars and other pious people should be invited to gain the blessing of their presence and their du'as along with the blessing of Friday and the masjid.

 3. The nikah should be performed by a pious person.

 4. Two witnesses should be chosen and present at the gathering. The Messenger of ALLAH PAK SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) said, "There is no marriage without a wali and two upright witnesses… (Ibn Hibban). Although all those present could potentially be witnesses, it is better to have two formal witnesses who sign the marriage contract and can be called upon in the event of any problems.

 5. The marriage payment [dowry or mahr] should be stipulated beforehand and the person performing the ceremony should be informed of the amount.

 6. The bride should preferably send a wali (her father, uncle, brother or any such elder) to represent her. Thewali should be present in the gathering. The Messenger of ALLAH PAK SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) said, "A women should not marry herself off [i.e. without a wali] (Ibn maja). In the Hanafi school, the consent of a mature bride is necessary and she cannot be married off without it. The Messenger of ALLAH PAK SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) said, "A virgin cannot be married off without her permission." They asked as to how her permission is given. He replied, "Her silence" (Bukhari and Muslim).

 7. When the bride grants her wali [representative] the permission to marry her to the groom, it is preferable to have two people (from among her mahrams) to witness this also. Although, the representation is valid without witnesses, however, in the event of problems their testimony would be needed to prove that she consented to her marriage to the groom.

 8. The sunna khutba [sermon] will be recited first by the imam performing the marriage. This khutbaincludes the three verses of taqwa, and a hadith or two about marriage, exhorting the couple and those present to fear ALLAH PAK and attain taqwa (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasai, Ahmad).

 9. After the khutba the imam will ask the representative (1) if he gives consent to the bride's (taking her complete name) marriage (2) to the groom (again taking the complete name) (3) for the stipulated amount of marriage payment (4) in the presence of the two witnesses. If the representative consents then the imam turns to the groom and ask him if he accepts the bride (taking her name) in his marriage for the stipulated amount of marriage payment. The groom has to reply in complete terms such as, "I accept her in my marriage" or " I have accepted her in my marriage" or "I do marry her." It is preferable that he say this and not just "I do" or "I accept."

 10. The imam should then recite the followingdu'a,

"Barak Allahu laka wa baraka alayka wa jama'a baynakuma bikhayr."

May Allah bless you and have His blessing descend upon you and unite you in goodness.

Thereafter, he will make other du'as for the couple and those present.

 11. It is then Sunna the next day or the day after once the couple have consummated their marriage or entered into privacy together to provide a walima reception. This is provided by the groom and his family and is not a responsibility of the bride. The Messenger of ALLAH PAK SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) provided walima after many of his marriages by feeding the people a goat. Anas (May ALLAH PAK be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of ALLAH PAK SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) provided a walimaon the occasion of the consummation of his marriage with Zaynab bint Jahsh. He provided meat and bread to the fill off his guests (Bukhari). On the occasion of his marriage to Safiyya bint Huyay ibn Akhtab he even had what may be considered a "pot luck" nowadays in North America where each person brought what he had and they sat down together and ate it (Bukhari and Muslim).

 12. Some MASJIDS and IMAMS have the legal capacity to solemnize a marriage which is then recognized by the state, county or local council. This is extremely beneficial as it does not entail re-performing the marriage again in a civil ceremony.

May ALLAH PAK grant us the ability to simplify what ALLAH PAK and His Messenger MUHAMMAD SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM(P.B.U.H) instructed to be simple and grant us blessing in it.

 WASSALAM
